I suspect that the free space on you system volume set is reserved for
transient space (hence the request for a DISCFREE format C report). Look at
the amount of available PERM space, and use ALTERVOL to adjust it, if
necessary.

Subject: Out of disc space?

I am getting strange errors on my HP3000-918LX MPE/iX-6.0- PP1. The system
seems to believe that it is out of disc space. As an example here is what I
am seeing when running a few common commands:

:RUN QEDIT.PUB.ROBELLE;PARM=4;INFO="TEXT !PARM1"

Qedit unrecoverable file system error from Fwrited

OUT OF DISC SPACE (FSERR 46)

Warning: This error can only occur if 1) :File is used to fool Qedit,

2) harware has problems, 3) you have exceeded your group or account

disc space limits, or 4) Qedit has a bug.

Qedit will now abort to prevent any damage to your workfile.

Before attempting to recover your file, you should back it up

with Fcopy, Suprtool, or :Copy. If recovery after an Open Command

is not complete, use Qcopy with the Serial option on the backup.

Virtually all of our applications handle data exclusively with Image and
that disc space is pre-allocated. They are not reporting any problems,
except when trying to print.

As the fates would degree, one of our HP JetDirect boxes apparently decided
to go south two days ago. That problem masked this one. I would normally
suspect (jump to the conclusion really) that one must be a consequence of
the other; but in this case the Windows Print Spoolers are also having
problems with that particular box. Unless there is some way for a JetDirect
Box to affect MPEiX I can't see how these two problems can be connected to
each other.

Any and all help or suggestions on the matter will be received with
gratitude. As I subscribe to the list digest, a copy of your replies via
direct eMail would be appreciated.

Regards,

Jim
