Not with out-of-the-box ftp. Reflection file transfer lets you do this, and
I bet Minisoft does, too. There are probably some other protocols that know
to preserve dates. I wonder if you LZWed the files first, and then unLZWed
them on the 3000, would that preserve dates? PKZip can preserve dates. I
think tar can, too. If you are coming from another 3000, STD (store to disc)
should. Does ftp between 3000s preserve dates? Probably not.
Or, you could conceivably write a script on the other host to derive the
filename and date time stamp, and output a script that would invoke touch to
set those filenames to that date time stamp. Also ftp the script, then run
it. How's that for ugly?
