What I could use then is the $compiler options to support environment VARs.
        $COPYRIGHT "Build !MYBUILD"
        #pragma VERSION "Build !MYBUILD"
(Wish C compiler had some $ options like $RLFILE in pascal)

Then my compile script could increment for me.
