European A3and A4 size paper shouldn't have anything to do with network
printing.  Is this a printer being newly configured on the HP-3000?   If so,
can you get anything to print?  Try something basic like...

:FILE MYLJ;DEV=1200
:LISTF @,2;*MYLJ

If nothing prints, does the display panel on the LJ show anything?

Run a self-test type printout from the 4Si and check it's internal hardware
configuration.  Specifically, check your IP address.  Can you print to this
printer form anything besides the HP-3000?  Most of these problems end up
being something very simple.
