I played with that for a while but ran into various problems and gave up on
it. We use Mark Bixby's XNTP instead. Works great, lasts long time. :-)
(this is CLIENT mode - where you sync off an external server. XNTP as a
server on the 3000 doesn't work)
ntpdate.pub.xntp "-B nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn"

Subject: [HP3000-L] timesync from telamon?
hi all!
i'm trying to get the freeware program 'timesync' from
telamon to work...and i'm stuck. the system is running
5.5pp7, dns is enabled, the time server is pingable and
working, 37 is set up in services.net (and properly linked),
tztab is present and the 'tz' variable is set. here's what
i'm getting....
L0945#showvar tz
TZ = PST8PDT
L0945#timesync.utl.lib '-t -h time.longs.com -v'
TIMESYNC(nm): 09Jan2001-09:32 (A.01.26) MPE/iX
Telamon, Inc. (C) 1994, 1920
Usage: TIMESYNC '[-t] [-c] [-b n] [-h host] [-n] [-v]'
-t - Set system clock
-c - Set CE (Console Engine)
-b n - Bias server time by +|- 'n' hours
-h - Specify host system (TCP/IP port 37)
-n - :SETCLOCK;NOW (dflt is GRADUAL)
-v - Verbose display
(Note: System clock set using :SETCLOCK;[GRADUAL|NOW])
TIMESYNC determines GMT by accessing the time (or
timeserver)
TCP/IP port on the designated system. The value is then
adjusted for the current locale's timezone before the
attempt
is made to set the clock.
The bias value's default is determined by examining the TZ
environment variable.
If found, TZTAB.LIB.SYS will be used to determine the
correct
offset for your timezone, taking daylight savings into
account. If no TZTAB file is found, the offset will be
taken
from the numeric portion of the TZ value.
Program terminated in an error state. (CIERR 976)
----------------------
i don't see why it's throwing the help text since all the
parameters are right. it's certainly not getting as far as
trying to do a 'setclock'. any ideas? - d
