c|net's NEWS.COM reports that Gateway Solo 3350,
HP Pavilion N5000, and HP Omnibook XE3 machines
are unable to use their V.90 56kbps modems.

The problem is said to be a faulty driver. Affected
versions of Windows are: 98 SE, ME, NT, 2000.

The workaround is to set the system clock to a date
prior to February 20th.
