I've ever heard of anyone using it, and I've never quite figured out what it
does either.

you've opened a :DSLINE to. It sounds like ;VTERM would allow you to issue
a file equation that points to a terminal device on the remote system. But
exactly why this would require some random "virtual" LDEVs I'm not quite
sure of, but I suppose they could serve as proxy devices for the remote
terminal devices.

RFA was required for multithreading tasks, certain Java functions to work properly, and for Native Mode Terminal I/O.

Hi all,
The 6.5 release of MPE kernel threads (*tentatively* scheduled for 6.5
express 2) will contain the NS/VT terminal driver in FOS. As Gavin
has correctly surmised, CSY was unaware that NS services were necessary
for certain terminal functions. There is currently no plan to retrofit
the NS/VT terminal driver into earlier MPE releases.
