Dear Listers,
This topic, as of my writing, almost deserves an "OT" designation, but I
wanted to comment, for me, on the concepts of what comprises "evolution",
specifically related to languages and how they manifest themselves, the
environments we set up so we can edify and enlighten each other, usually
with behavior patterns that are encouraged or discouraged. In a sense a kind
of language that we all understand and that can be quite foreign to those
not initiated. We use various "languages" at different levels to teach each
other what we know and understand. Moving from one audible language to
another usually requires learning another sound or series of sounds that
mean approximately the same thing. This is true of computer languages as
well, but each language has its own concepts that can only be understood by
those that practice it.

I ran across this article the other day and thought of this listserv and
its "language" and feel very fortunate to be part of it.

The most important statements are the last sentence in paragraph four
and the whole of paragraph five.
