There are several things that could be affecting this 6.5 system:
- The amount of disk data on the system has gone up by about 4%, so if the
jobs are processing this data, it could explain about half the increase.
- The file system was enhanced in 6.5 to allow files to be greater than
4GB in size. This code impacts reads and writes to every MPE fixed
record file on a 6.5 system, and adds a few percent CPU to processes
which do heavy file system IO. So, if these jobs process MPE flat files,
they will encounter this additional overhead.
- You didn't mention the memory size, but HP recommends a minimum of
  128GB memory on a 928LX running 6.5.
- There have been some performance patches released for 6.5. If this
customer is on 6.5 Express 2, they should have the main one they need
  for a 928 system - MPELXB0.

From my experience with small systems like this, these results seem within
the range of performance change I would expect for batch jobs when going
from 5.5 to 6.5.

: Hi

: A customer last week upgraded to from 5.5 to 6.5 and now several jobs take
: much more time than before. They are on a 928LX.

: One big batchjob that run every night (no other jobs running at same time):

: 2 last before upgrade : elapsed min 489, CPUsec 12.777 & 490/12.875

: 4 nights after upgrade : elapsed min 541,530,528,531
: CPUsec 13761,13799,13786,13896

: Average + 40 mins, + 1000 cpu secs, increased by 8%.

: Amount of diskspace stored have increased from 3.87 to 4.02 so that the
: amount of free diskspace have been slightly reduced.

: Anyone with the same experience ???
