Our experience after the upgrade of a 997-1200 to 6.5 and adding memory from
3.75 Gb to 16 Gb is a noticeable and most welcome boost in batch throughput. I
understand that the 6.5 OS was tailored specifically to enhance performance on
the high-end machines.

Subject: [HP3000-L] System slower after upgrading to 6.5

Hi

A customer last week upgraded to from 5.5 to 6.5 and now several jobs take
much more time than before. They are on a 928LX.

One big batchjob that run every night (no other jobs running at same time):

2 last before upgrade : elapsed min 489, CPUsec 12.777 & 490/12.875

4 nights after upgrade : elapsed min 541,530,528,531
                         CPUsec 13761,13799,13786,13896

Average + 40 mins, + 1000 cpu secs, increased by 8%.

Amount of diskspace stored have increased from 3.87 to 4.02 so that the
amount of free diskspace have been slightly reduced.

Anyone with the same experience ???

Taale Liereng,
