Just had a problem with SCSI being seen

I just had a problem with my SCSI drive not being seen by my HP Vectra
XU 5/90/c.  I disabled the "boot from floppy disk" option on the setup,
and it went back to it's original settings.  What caused this?  I
happened out of the blue.

Also, are there any websites that have free software for benchmarking a
computer, i.e., seeing what it's capabilities are as far as memory,
processor compatibility, other compatibility, etc.?
