Electricity usage can vary a lot from the s/n label info but it kind of
depends upon the type of device.  A monitor should have a fairly constant
rate of use as well as disc drives, etc.  Printers will vary (downward?) the
most.  Of course newer PC monitors tend to go into a power-save mode, etc. so
getting an accurate picture of power usage will take some estimating.

Anybody know of a way to programmatically get info from a UPS unit either on
the HP-3000 or from one of those APC units?  Can't really automate a shutdown
without that.
