My experience coincides with Gilles'. Every time since at least mid-5.5
times, when I've applied a PowerPatch using Patch/iX, the "User Version"
changes to reflect the PowerPatch number.
Are you sure you used Patch/iX? I ask this because when I went from 5.5 PP7
to 6.0 PP2 on three machines, I did it in one step using autoinst (the
recommended by HP way - see the manual). Using Patch/iX to immediately apply
PP2 after the upgrade to 6.0 would have taken needless extra time. The "User
Version" on these machines is C.60.00 while the "User Version" on a system
that was upgraded from 6.0 PP1 to 6.0 PP2 using Patch/iX reports C.60.02.
BTW, perhaps someone can confirm this, but if you change USERVERSION in
SYSGEN, I believe it only takes effect if you create an SLT and then update
from it. It does not take effect through a simple SHUTDOWN/START NORECOVERY.
