Everyone on this list should be well aware that support for
MPE 5.5 was officially discontinued on 31 December 2000.
For those not currently on HP support who might not know, I
just got a letter from HP "Electronic Software & Information"
dated "December 2000" that might be of interest.  It sez:

"As a courtesy ITRC existing patches for 5.5 can be
requested but ONLY through the ITRC or Response Center."
It goes on to say that these 5.5 patches will be available from
2000-12-31 through 2001-06-30;  i.e: for another six months.

For those still on 5.5 who have for one reason or another not
been able to make the jump to 6.0 or 6.5 yet, expect this is
welcome news....

The letter also confirmed that MPE 6.0 will be obsoleted on
30 April 2002....
