Subject: possible ER: bytestream support for DSCOPY?

DSCOPY does not currently support bytestream files:

SOURCE FILE CANNOT BE BYTE STREAM RECORD TYPE (NFT/3000 ERR 115)
   UNABLE TO ACCESS SOURCE FILE/DEVICE. (NS/NFTERR 4)

It has been suggested to me that this would be a good enhancement request.
Any opinions from the list on the relative merit of submitting an ER for
this? Has the idea been considered and discarded before? Do most sites just
use frombyte/tobyte to get around the problem?
