Happy Holidays!!!

I have seemingly run into a brick wall at HP and am turning to the list for
help. Last summer, the company installed eight HP 2100TN LaserJet printers
in remote offices. These LaserJet printers don't have a way to configure
options from the control panel because, in essence, there is no control
panel. You have a couple of push buttons (on-line, off-line) and a couple
of indicator lights (ready, attention). The configuration loaded in the
printers before being shipped to the field works just fine for printing
from the HP 3000. Now, management wants to change (IIRC) the Tray1 option
to "Cassette" rather than "First."

There is a DOS-based application on the CDROM that ships with the 2100's
which can be used to set the configuration options when the printer is
connected via the parallel port. There does not seem to be a way to change
the configuration via the network connection. Using a browser or Telnet to
access the printer only allows changes to the JetDirect configuration
options. Same seems true for JetAdmin and the web version of JetAdmin.

The 2100TN printers are now spread across five states. They are connected
via the built-in JetDirect and not the parallel port. The DOS-based
software was not installed on any of the PC's in the field because it's not
compatible with NT (the DOS app tries to write directly to the parallel
port and NT won't allow that to happen). Sending a tech and notebook PC
with Win 9x to the field to change the configuration is not a viable option.

If anyone knows how to change the configuration options on the 2100TN when
connected via the JetDirect interface across a frame relay network, please
reply off-line. I'll be very grateful.

Thanks.
