Just so everyone knows.... The COBOL official standard (supported by the HP
compiler) is BINARY and PACKED-DECIMAL.  Most HP-3000 COBOL source code uses
the HP-non-standard COMP and COMP-3.

Bob's code looks correct to me but since he used the standard COBOL word
BINARY, I thought that I'd mention this.
