Hello Folks @ 3000-l,

Re: FTP and MPE/iX 6.0

------------------------------------------------Andreas Schmidt writes--
Folks, we're detecting more and more FTP BUGS under 6.0, and I'm
interested in YOUR experiences on this.

The two most important bugs we see:
* The ftp client on MPE 6.0 does and exclusive open of a file with
format designator "INPUT". Under 5.5 such a file granted share access.
* The ftp server returns successful completion of a file transfer, but
no file will be present if the security matrix on the remote site is
not appropriate.

Yesterday I started some more testing but need to complete them in a
more ordered manner before sharing with you.

TIA, best regards, have a nice Xmas time, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

The first problem is identified as SR 8606143976 to be fixed in the next
Beta Test patch for FTP/iX on 6.0.

The second problem is not necessary a FTP/iX problem and further trouble
shooting is necessary... The first question is, is the remote host
returning an error code 4xx or 5xx error message or not. This is the
model "STANDARD" by which FTP operates. If the remote host is not
sending back a 4xx or 5xx error message, but sends back at 2xx range
number, then the FTP/iX client will believe that the file has transferred
successfully.

Most FTP clients have a DEBUG command which will further identify the
communications between the Client FTP process and the Server FTPSRVR
process. You might want to use this function to further understand the
problem.
