There were also two other TELESUP utilities for plain tape copying:
STORCOPY and TAPECOPY. STORCOPY only works with CM (MPE V) style tapes.
TAPECOPY will work with just about any tape provided you know the original
tapes basic structure. TAPECOPY will ask the following:

WHAT TYPE OF TAPE IS THIS
STORE, SYSDUMP, SINGLE FILE, OR OTHER ?

Answer OTHER, because it will assume STORE is a CM STORE tape.

The program will start to copy, then hit a "double-EOF" and ask to
continue, say YES. The first double-EOF is the NM STORE tape label, the
rest is the actual files.

It will wind on and hit another double-EOF and ask to continue again, say
NO.

Rewinds,

You're done...

Primitive, but it works in a pinch.

While some good folk have contributed some good software to do this, and a
few companies sell good products to do this, when I last looked at an
official HP solution for copying DAT to DAT, it was SLTCOPY! I understand
that FCOPY can do the job with some effort, although it likes to give
error
messages when doing so, so that is another HP kind of solution, after a
sort.

It is interesting that (one of?) the HP STORE manual(s) says to do just
this, make a copy of your tapes and send one set off site for DR. The
utility that is documented, IIRC, can only handle single tapes, and not
backups that span more than one tape (if being able to restore is a
consideration).

Subject: Tape to tape copy

I know I used to do tape to tape copies of dat tapes using an HP
utility in the telesup account, but can't seem to remember or find it in
my
current enviroment. Wondering if anybody uses this or another method to do
tape to tape copies. Our backups are done with turbo-store to
DLT7000/4000's. We would like to be able to dup month-end backups etc, so
we
can send one off-site and keep one here for convenience. TIA
