I have not yet encountered any problems WRT incorrect device id's in
updating from 5.5 to 6.0.

If I recall correctly, the only situation where that could be an issue is
if an single-ended device was incorrectly configured as a F/W device or
vice versa.

(There are other issues associated with updating to 6.5 - but that's
another story).

In any case, the worst that will happen is that one or more non-ldev1
devices will not come up immediately after updating from your 6.0 slt.
(And, what could be worse than that some may ask??)

Well, not a real large problem. You simply need to log on as manager.sys,
and use sysgen to correct the problem by reconfiguring the (now)
misconfigured device and then "start norecovery". Life will be better
after that.
