Greetings,
I want to be able to understand the various steps involved in this process.
I have had success with ODBC/SE and used Access to get to my IMAGE/SQL Data.
This was a very easy process because "Getting Started with HP IMAGE/SQL"
and "HP IMAGE/SQL Administration Guide" were clear. The PDF file for ODBC/SE
was excellent. This only took me a day to do which I was very pleased how
easy it was.

Now, I want to go back and create a user that will only have access to
certain IMAGE/SQL Tables. This is where I lack the knowledge. If I want to
add a user with only read access to a particular table, how would I do this?
I was reading "TurboIMAGE/XL Database Management System" and there are
things that are unclear to me. Actually, I didn't know the vast amount of
security thingys you could do in IMAGE. I began to see the parallels with
Oracle security. However, we know IMAGE was well before Oracle.

So, what I need is a step by step tasks from the beginning like:

First, you need to create a user in MPE (Use :NEWUSER command)
Second, you need to make sure the user can access the group/account where
the database resides
Third, Defining user classes and passwords (Use DBGENERAL 5.1)
Fourth, Setting up read and write class lists.
Fifth, Once you have defined user classes and passwords, you are ready to
define the type of access allowed by each password to the data items and
data sets in the database.

I will go back and read the Database Management System book, but if someone
knows this off the top of their head, it would be greatly appreciated. We
have DBGENERAL for Database Administration.

Thanks a bunch and have a great weekend.
