Just an update. "Our network administrator claims we are not blocking port
123." Bzzzzt!

Fortunately, he reports to me, so I was able to force him to prove to me we
were not blocking port 123. And, of course, he had to somewhat sheepishly
admit we were indeed blocking port 123 at the firewall. A simple
configuration change and success was ours. Thanks Mark for the port of NTP.
