And if I remember correctly, neither the House or Senate are obligated to
select the  candidates that were running for President or Vice President.
Also eons ago,  before the President and Vice President ran on one ticket,
it was possible to have the President from one party and the Vice President
from the other.

So we could (in the extreme case) have a Libertarian President and a Green
Party Vice President. :-)  or :-(
