You did not give a lot of information. However, if you have the network
running on the HP 3000, about the only thing that you need to verify is if
Ethernet is enabled. You will find this in NMMGR at the NETXPORT.NI.LAN1
screen, where LAN1 is the name of your network interface.

Once this is enabled and you have the network restarted, you should be able to
ping your 3000 at its address. Depending on how you want to access your 3000,
(with the built-in Telnet on Windows 98, perhaps,) you will need to have jinetd
running with telnet enabled. If jinetd is not running on your system (chance
of this are high,) you will need to prepare it for running.

In the group net.sys, look for a file called inetdcnf. If it does not exist,
chances are a file by the name inetdsam or something similar is there. Copy
that file to inetdcnf.net.sys. Edit this last file and make sure the entry for
telnet does NOT have a # in front of it. Keep the file and exit from the
editor. Next issue the following MPE command: :NEWLINK /etc/inetd.conf,
inetdcnf.net.sys ** Note: make sure the file name /etc/inetd.conf is in
lowercase. ** Finally, stream jinetd.net. The HP 3000 should not respond to
telnet and should let you log on.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .
