Hello Friends,
Re: FTP under JINETD & 6.0 issues
----------------------------------------------Paul Christidis writes--
Fellow Listers, We are planning of upgrading to 6.0, in the next few
weeks and, at this point, I have a couple of questions. Under the
'old' FTP setup, some additional measure of security was being invoked
by requiring that the MPE user that a 'client' would use to connect to
the 3K had an MPE password. This was done by changing the jobstream
provided by HP and invoke the 'ftpmon' executable as follows:
!run ftpmon;info="password"
Is there a similar 'feature' for in the 'new' FTP setup?
Regards, Paul Christidis

I have checked the code and verified this feature has gone away in the
implementation of FTP under INETD.
I would recommend you contact the RC and request a SR be submitted
asking that this functionality be re-implemented... My guess is we will
need to add a "PASSWORD" command/option to the SETPARMS.ARPA.SYS file.
P.S. Sorry I was quiet for so long. I have just returned from three
weeks off from HP to be Mr. Pumpkin at my Church. We had a great year
in pumpkin sales, 2,300 pumpkins (a full semi-truck full) found their
way to happy/haunted homes.
