While the web page spouts off about web e-commerce, the standard appears to
be a method to implement two-phase commits on top of a web architecture.  So
really, it's a standard that enables others to reinvent EDI standards and
extensible messages designed for sheep by a committee of
asses...er...donkeys. ;-)

HP is involved with IBM, Oracle, Sun and Bowstreet in developing a standard
to make web transactions standard across multiple vendors.  Here are some
