Did you transfer it as binary or ASCII?  Binary transfers will do this.
Also you may need to fixcr the file.

Subject:        lf/cr?  Trying to read a txt file using access....

It's got to be something with the lf/cr on the 3000
files. I'm trying to read a file from the 3000 using
access.

 It's reading the file as one really long record,
instead of many records.

What's up with that????   :)

I looked up some older discussions...but I didn't find
anything definite.

Anyone?..Anyone?...Bueller...
