What kind of reply is asked?

I have included the sysgen configuration for the DLT drive in the DLT Robotic
library.
io> ld 13
 LDEV: 13 DEVNAME: OUTDEV: 0 MODE: R
ID: DLT7000 RSIZE: 128 DEVTYPE: TAPE
 PATH: 44.1.0 MPETYPE: 24 MPESUBTYPE: 8
CLASS: TAPE

As you can see, it's similar to yours.

The drive is in a robotic library and the robot feeds in the appropriate tape
when requested to do so by the backup software. The only time that I have seen
a reply pending on this drive is when the tape takes an inordinately long time
to load. The backup software has built-in configurable delays so that it waits
a certain amount of time before it starts to access the tape after it has been
loaded by the robot.

If you try to access the tape before you get the AVR message at the console,
you will get the reply as the tape is probably not ready. Remember, a DLT
drive can take several minutes to get the tape on-line.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

Subject: Help with Autoreply

I have device 8 which is a DLT7000 on a HP3000-979 configured in sysgen
as follows:

     io> LD 8
 LDEV: 8 DEVNAME: OUTDEV: 0 MODE: R
ID: DLT7000 RSIZE: 128 DEVTYPE: TAPE
 PATH: 10/4/24.1.0 MPETYPE: 24 MPESUBTYPE: 8
CLASS: TAPE

     io> LC TAPE

CLASSNAME MODE MIN MODE DCC MODE # DCC LDEV
--------- ------- -------- -------- ----- ----
TAPE default ncio 0 7, 8,

I did a modify device with mode=autoreply, and when I read a tape it
still asks for a reply. I am not sure what the mode on the class tape
should be. Both of the sysgen displays are as the system was originally
set up.
