We use Tally printers ( model MT661 and MT691) on our Hp3000 for many years,
and they work fine.

They are hooked with the serial interface on a dtc port, using termtype 18,
with the problems that can happen if they are not powered up.

A few years ago, I tried to hook then on a external jetdirect box, via the
parallel interface, but I had
a lot of trouble because of the PJL language the printer doesn't support,
even with
pjl-support = false in the npconfig file.

I hope this gives you a few information on your project.

Regards.

Beghein Johan.
