There are several interesting bits of news today, including one from HP:

Maxstor announced plans to buy Quantum's hard drive business.

United Airlines announced wireless Internet access "from virtually anywhere
in an airport terminal." The press release notes that this will be available
through either monthly subscription or by "one-time access." No timetable
was given.

One thing to watch will be reports of "computer espionage," since no doubt
there will be those who use the service but who do not protect their own
machine from unauthorized (now wireless) access.

Lastly, HP has entered into a deal where it will OEM UNIX servers from
NEC. HP will supply the OS, and NEC the hardware, dubbed AzusA. One
analyst is quoted as saying, ""The alliance is perfect for NEC, which
can take full advantage of [the] HP brand image." No kidding.
