Hi Aldo,

I sincerely apologize if you were offended by the posting of the
obviously humorous 'dolphin' URL created by the Onion...a notoriously
publication specializing in satirical humor. My 16 year old daughter
found it very funny. Of course she may be more mature than some of the
'junior' readers on this list. :-)

I support anyone's quest for answers to life's questions, on this list
or anywhere else. You have certainly posed your share of 'deep'
questions since you joined the list. However, many of us have already
found 'the answer to the meaning of life' to our own satisfaction.
Along the road of that continuing journey, I found that a sense of humor
and the ability to laugh at yourself has made the trip more pleasant,
more meaningful, and ultimately more successful. :-)

On a serious note, if you are really interested in my family's recent
encounters with dolphins, go to our webpage and read our trip report on
Galapagos. We were joined by dolphins on almost every dive, escorted to
and from the sites with pods of 4 or 5 and ranging upwards of 20 or
more, and entertained on deck by their antics during most every meal.
This was particularly true at the islands of Wolf and Darwin that see
little boat/human traffic.

Perhaps if we could be more specific about the nature of our questions
so they at least don't appear to be a troll. For example, in your post
"Any stories about dolphin contact out there ?" What exactly did you
want to know? I don't personally believe that dolphins are ancient
alien astronauts come to earth to save us. :-) Although my family
loves dolphins, we don't feel that anthropomorphisizing them is sensible
or scientific. Or perhaps you could this thread by recounting some of
your 'contact' experiences with them. I would personally enjoy hearing
your stories.

Does humor really hurt the credibility of science & scientists before
the junior population? ...Gary Larson comes to mind.

Best regards,
Russ
