I just attempted to install the gcc 2.95.1 (Thread Safe g++ for MPE/iX 6.0)
and the system crashed.
I FTPed all the tar files into the FREEWARE account, unpacked them using
tar, and converted all of the INSTALL files to fixed length files using
frombyte.
When I tried to execute INSTALL.GNUCORE, I got:
:INSTALL.GNUCORE
Removing old version of GNUCORE.
Installing new version of GNUCORE.
checking if /FREEWARE/GNUCORE/TARFILE is fully qualified
dirname: , cwd: /FREEWARE/PUB
checking existence of /FREEWARE/GNUCORE/TARFILE
checking whether or not /FREEWARE/GNUCORE/TARFILE is in gzip format
begin installation of /FREEWARE/GNUCORE/TARFILE
and then I waited. When it didn't come back I checked the console and found
a number of Streams/iX ERROR messages of the form:
mpe_free(0x8838d000): Error Invalid address
address is not aligned. Buffer Size: 8192
culminating in:
SYSTEM ABORT 818 FROM SUBSYSTEM 122
SYSTEM HALT 7, $0332
Has anybody else had this problem? Does anybody know what caused it?
Thanks in advance,
Bruce Collins
