If you know the record size and block size of the file you can use fcopy to
transfer the file to the HP3000.

Say rec size= 248
       block size= 40
       tape drive is ldev 8
       tape label is test

then

file t;dev=8;rec=-248,40,f,ascii;label=TEST,IBM
fcopy from=*t;to=filename;new


file
