Hi Kevin,

Tried that, and whilst it lets the first character print, it puts a blank
line after each one printed.

It's been awhile for me also, and only in FTN-66.
I would say change the format to (X,A80). The problem would be
CCTL on output.

       FSTAT=FREAD(FNUM,RECBUFF,RECLEN)
       DO WHILE (FSTAT .NE. 0)
         PRINT '(X,A80)',RECBUFF
         FSTAT=FREAD(FNUM,RECBUFF,RECLEN)
       ENDDO
