If it uses some non-standard scheme such as writing to the very last sector
on the disk, I think it would technically survive a reformat or an fdisk, or
just about any normal means of accessing a disk. I would think it would then
have to somehow "hide" this normal access. I note that it says nothing about
surviving a disk editor, or a bulk degausser. I have run into widgets like
this, that depend on clever tricks not immediately obvious to the most
casual user. I bet if you gave one to Stan and company... my, oh my.
