"The United States has never lost a war in which mules were used."

http://www.fayettevilleobserver.com/news/archives/1998/tx98aug/f09t2axx.htm

Leaving aside the inevitable flame wars over whether we won or lost the war
in Vietnam, mules were used there... by the French, by the Vietnamase, and
even by the Americans.

We didn't send any American mules over, but rather "liberated" indigenous
mules.
