A less drastic, simple, and PERFECT solution for complainers like
Christian, for the reasons of his complaints, is:

http://raven.utc.edu/Archives/scuba-se.html

and READ ONLY those THREADS of AUTHORS of interest to the complainer.
It has the added advantage of NOT LOSING TRACK of the order and
sequence the postings in a THREAD took place, and who said what to
whom and when! (Which is the SOURCE of the majority of the flamewars
Christian complained about -- because ONE of the two parties didn't
read or misread what the other posted and was too lazy or didn't
know how to retrieve it from the WEB archives).

I have posted this FACT and SUGGESTION numerous times.

I have not read a SINGLE POST on-line or in the DIGEST for MONTHS
now. Not only that, but I have posted ALL replies directly from
the same webpage:

http://raven.utc.edu/Archives/scuba-se.html

BOOKMARK IT for future reference.

I have left some entire threads UNREAD.

The web-page archives are FAR BETTER than the Digest version because
it is VIRTUALLY real-time. (With only a slight delay than on-line),
and not delayed an entire day as the Digest does.

Now Christian (and others who complained publicly or silently), why
DIDN'T YOU know that?
