Hi David.  Orion Group has developed a socket-based toolset that allows
complete connectivity to Image data.  It is designed for fast performance
and robust reliability.  This is possible because all code that accesses the
Image databases (reads, writes, locks, etc.)is done in COBOL in the HP3000
native environment.  We have several customers using the tool set with great
results for just the type of applications you wrote about.  Visit
