Allegro Consultants has a commercial product called XOVER (pronounced
"Crossover") which understands a variety of tape formats (SLT, STORE,
FCOPY, etc.), and a variety of media (1600bpi reel, DDS, DLT, etc.). It can
make duplicate copies of your SLT's and/or backup sets for offsite storage.
It can also covert from one media to another. For example, it can convert a
multi-reel backup to a single DDS, or a multi-DDS backup to a single DLT.

Please see http://www.allegro.com/products/ for a bit more information.
