That statement should also have a PIN associated with it
somewhere within the console statement noted above.
When this message appears it is expecting a REPLY from
the console that indicates the PIN and device in which you
wish to direct the backup. The PIN should be the number
preceding the "LDEV#" portion of the console message.
ie : 1005/#J105/44/LDEV# for "T" on TAPE (NUM)?
The PIN in this case is 44.
IIRC a reel tape device is LDEV 8. The first DDS or DLT is
LDEV 7. Then LDEV 9. So, all that to say, issuing the statement :
REPLY 44,7
Should tell the process number 44 that the device you want to
backup to (where a tape should be loaded) is LDEV 7. And your
backup should go along its merry way.
