Ditto. We were just restocking our larder at CostCo now that we are back
from D.C., and my wife and eleven-year old son went over to their book
section. We try to avoid "the hype" without disappointing or otherwise
screwing up our kids, and I hope that doing it this way worked. Otherwise,
one of us would probably have dropped by a bookstore, or waited until we saw
someone's ad, and picked up our copy that way. Or, we might have asked our
local library about it, and just put our names on their waiting list to
borrow it.
While I do try to make some of MS's local dog and pony shows (some times the
talks are interesting, such as Bill's address at the Win98 rollout, and they
do tend to give away copies...), I have never been in any line anywhere to
buy something at midnight, and hope that I never will. But having come from
a material handling background, the logistics of these distributions are
personally interesting.
