If you want to use the TI 800 as a network printer to your HP 3000, your
only option is to buy one of the several good third-party packages
available. HP's network printing solution REQUIRES that the printer
understand basic HP PCL. You can get by with a non-HP NIC by using the (I
believe still undocumented) directive "snmp_enabled=false" in npconfig, but
I am unaware of any method to over-ride the PCL-aware requirement for the
printer that works reliably.

I would be very interested to hear about any way around this PCL-awareness
requirement that works reliably.

Subject: [HP3000-L] need help on foreign printer config

I have a TI 800 dot matrix printer config'd in
NPCONFIG thru a jet direct trying to print P.O.s from
Manman. It does some garbling and of course HP says
it's not supported. Has anyone any hints as to how I
might configure a generic dot matrix? Thanks.
