You all can see these taxes have touched a hot button with me ;-) If we were
to get an auditor we would get it regardless of whether we paid the "use
tax" on this bought-in-Washington 917.

And despite my complaining I do realize that other countries, Canadians
included, pay even more taxes.

My feeling on the matter is similar to Mark Twain's - to paraphrase him when
asked if he didn't feel good in paying his taxes he replied that he would
have felt equally good had he paid half his taxes.

And this is before our income tax was enacted in 1910. (Or 1913?)

A Berlin friend of mine swapped t shirts with me. The Germans pay a
horrendous amount of taxes - up to 90%. On his T Shirt there's an American
Flag - saying "We have Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Bob Hope and Johnny
Cash...

By the German flag is the explanation " And we have Gerhard Schroeder, No
Wonder, No Hope and No Cash...

I might be too cynical in my old age but to me the politicians will tax us
all ever higher - giving the money to other voting constituents - until
enough people say enough...Not trying to start a flame war with those who do
not agree with me -

Some are content with the status quo so I may be as the speaker in
Hyde Park speaking to a crowd of 3 ;-)
