HP-IB tape drive on a PC

We have an old HP7978 tape drive that has served us well for years.  When
we
upgrade from MPE 5.5 to 6.5 in the next few months, HP-IB support goes
away.
I'm looking for a way to use this device on a PC.  Agilent Technologies
(a.k.a. HP) still sells HP-IB type adapters for PC's.

Is there any software available that will allow me to read and write files
to this tape drive via a PC?
