Is there something else unique about your site that they want to do an
install?  New drives, etc?  Or a corrupted 5.5 OS?

Most of us, have migrated from 5.5 to 6.0 with just a simple update.
Then add the express 2 patch immediately.

If an install is done, remember you will need to restore all usesr data,
so make sure you've gotten multiple backups with the directory option
AND if private volumes are used, that you have also specified the
volsets to be backed up on your store line.

Then before you let them have the machine,  run VSTORE and verify that
at least one backup is readable.
