This might be connected to the default :BUILD-parms. The 3k-ftp-server
use certain defaults when building files, check the file
BLDPARMS.ARPA.SYS (or BLDSAMP.ARPA.SYS if nonexistent). If this is the
problem you may also use build-parms in the >put-command, e.g.
ftp> put ./FD3516.prdct.3516.tar.Z ./prdct.3516.tar.Z;DISC=...
