I had the same problem with spool files printing over and over again on a
network printer. The printer is an HP8100N with a model J3113A JetDirect
card (this an EIO-slot card, not an MIO-card, if that matters). At the
time, I had the value 'pjl_supported' set to TRUE in my NPCONFIG.PUB.SYS
file. I may also have had 'jam-recovery' set to FALSE. I now have
'pjl_supported' set to FALSE and 'jam-recovery' set to TRUE and have not had
any further problems. I did not take the time to determine which of these
two settings was causing my problem, nor did I check to see if these are the
recommended values for this model JetDirect card; they work, and that is
good enough for now.

Here is the relevant portion of my NPCONFIG.PUB.SYS file. The setup files
referenced here are ones that I made. I did not find standard setup files
for these model printers on my system.

global    (message_interval = 60
           setup_file = lj5siset.pub.sys
           banner_header = FALSE
           banner_trailer = FALSE
           pjl_supported = FALSE)
901    (network_address = 1.2.3.4
        poll_interval = 10
        poll_interval_max = 30
        jam_recovery = TRUE
        setup_file = hp8100n.pub.sys
        data_timeout = 20)

Seems like a candidate for turning off the page level recovery.

Hello All,

I am exactly interested in the same problem. Any further info will be
appreciated.
(Just for information, HP is investigating the problem. If I get a
feedback, I'll forward it to list).

TIA,
Kemal.

Subject:  Network Printing

I am trying to print from an HP3000 959/200 5.5 PP7 to a Konica IP-303
(65ppm printer). There is an HP JetDirect EX Plus (J2591A), firmware
E.05.13 attached to the printer. When we try printing to it we get the
following error:

10:33/120/Output spooler, LDV #651: The IPCRECV intrinsic reported
error 64 while waiting for a generic event completion. The error text is:
REMOTE ABORTED THE CONNECTION. (SOCKERR 64)
Native Mode Spooler message 9646

I then hooked the jet direct device up to a LJ 4 Plus. I can print but
after the report (1 pager)I get an error indicating there was a power
failure on the device and it sends it again. The spoolfile never gets
purged on the HP3000 (it just loops and loops).

1. Has anyone done this kind of IP connection with a non HP printer.

2. Has anyone used this model of jet direct card and had it work.

Thanks in advance for any input with this problem.
