I agree with your comments completely but there is quite a strong
anti-Cognos sentiment on 3000-L. Or at least those with the biggest opinions
are the most vocal. I even hesitate to post this because I fear contributing
positive comments about Cognos will only start a 5 day thread which will
quickly degenerate into Cognos-bashing. This generally leaves me as a lurker
on this list.

I will be the first to admit that Cognos has brought a lot of this on
themselves with their predatory pricing, particularly upgrade costs for
existing and long-standing customers. Most existing customers would probably
not consider Cognos a "business partner". But in spite of its warts, it's
still one of the finest tool sets of its sort that I've ever used -- and
it's getting close to 20 years old.
