I used AUTOINST to install PowerPatch 7.
Could be that Patch/iX modifies the USER VERSION. But then so can anyone who
is able to make an SLT and do an UPDATE.
PUB.SYS:showme

RELEASE: C.55.03 MPE/iX HP31900 C.05.08 USER VERSION: C.55.03

Or maybe not. Apparently under some circumstances the user version is
changed. For example, all three of my systems on 5.5 pp7 show something like
this:
showme
USER: #S5044,MGR.SYSMGR,PUB (NOT IN BREAK)
RELEASE: C.55.00 MPE/iX HP31900 C.05.08 USER VERSION: C.55.07
CURRENT: FRI, MAY 12, 2000, 1:35 PM
LOGON: FRI, MAY 12, 2000, 5:59 AM
...
So, the "user version" seems to show the PowerPatch level in all cases.
Note: I used PATCH/iX exclusively to update these systems.
