Hello Everyone,

This past weekend, we updated our operating system from 5.5 to 6.0. One of
the steps was to boot from a CSLT which was created by the autoinst program
earlier in the update process. I used a 90m tape on a DDS-3 drive to create
the CSLT. (O.K. I know some of you are now shaking your heads right now,
thinking "Doesn't this guy read what's posted on this list?"). Writing to
and reading from the tape was no problem; booting from the tape was a
headache. After entering the alternate boot path, I received messages
indicating initialization errors, with "flt 1009" displayed at the bottom of
the screen. Then nothing.

I called our friends at HP and was told that this is a common issue; booting
from a 90m tape using a DDS-3 tape drive can be a problem. Afterwards, I
was able to boot from the tape, using the tc boot option. I don't know if
using tc instead of rs made any difference.

I know this issue has been discussed before, but it slipped by me. Thought
it was worth mentioning again for all the other memory challenged folks out
there :-)
